Single-Parenting
Sometimes people find themselves single-parenting after a relationship loss. While others make an intentional choice to become parents without partners. Either way may present emotional challenges.
Single-parents-by-choice go through thinking” stage and “trying” stages, during which they may face their own doubts about parenting alone and those of un-supportive friends and family members. Often they must endure lengthy fertility or adoption processes, and make hard decisions about how to build a family.
After a relationship ends a single-parent’s challenges may include helping children cope with the end of the family they knew, co-parenting successfully with an ex-partner, and dealing with anger, grief, and fear.
